Rustic Potatoes with Yogurt and Butter

This dish with potatoes, matzoon, and butter is a simple yet incredibly delicious Armenian comfort food. Crispy fried potatoes, thick matzoon, and melted butter come together to create the flavor of a traditional village homemade table.

It’s perfect both as a main dish and as a hearty appetizer.

Ingredients (for 3–4 servings)

  • 600 g potatoes
  • 300 g matzzon (thick and natural)
  • 50 g butter
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Fresh dill or parsley

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes.
  2. Fry until golden and crispy.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the matzoon with crushed garlic.
  4. Melt the butter.
  5. Place the potatoes on a serving plate.
  6. Add the matzoon on top.
  7. Drizzle with melted butter.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.
